The First Step to Creating a Facebook Page

Facebook has created a platform that allows you to put a business profile on their network, you can have a business page which in essence is a webpage within Facebook.

What are the benefits? The main one is the fact that people who like your page (used to be referred to as fans) can contribute to your page – posting their own content out there for everyone to see. Ideally you want to see content related to your business or group topic, but you may find people networking with each other there as well. Be ready to welcome it all, have your business support the networking that occurs on your page.

What you are trying to do is build up a community of brand advocates – people that like your brand, your content, your services and products. You want people talking about your business and in a positive way. A Facebook Page is a place that allows these types of connections and opportunities to happen.

Before you create a Page on Facebook you should research to determine if it is worth taking this step, you need to realize with it comes a commitment to use the network on a regular basis. You will need to have a strategy thought out and planned. When planning a social media strategy with clients, we look at seven areas to include in our overall Facebook Page Plans. The primary one being your PURPOSE and this is the one that all other areas rely on.

Your purpose will help differ your Facebook Page from your website and competitor’s pages and make it attractive to people to join. You want people joining and interacting – your purpose will help with this. Give people a reason to connect – whether it’s for information and tips, a weekly discount coupon code to use in your store, no matter if you are an online or a brick and mortar store (coupons are fabulous for building interest and loyalty) or other innovative ways to connect with your audience. These extras will be the reasons people continue to watch your page and engage.

Facebook users need a reason to join you. Think like your clients. What benefit will people get from joining your page? Most people will think this way when making a decision to join a page or group on Facebook. Your purpose for having a Facebook Page will answer this question and users will understand the benefits to them and want to join you.

Specialising in Social Media, my Facebook Page is all about helping people learn tips and tricks to using social media and I open it up to questions from others as well. If your business is swimming pools you would look at giving people information on maintaining pools and maybe how to make the choices and decision on what type to install. Do you offer training programs in certain area of business? Then give them insight into the course by offering up tidbits of inform meant to make people want more, to contact you to keep on learning.

As the business owner you should also be looking to join other pages – or groups – if the audience may be part of your target market. This means taking the time to comment on their wall and participate so that the members will get to know you. In these situations you want to ensure your content posted gives a view into your knowledge, expertise and business – then people will look to you for more info. When searching fro pages or groups to join you will note how a defined purpose can make a difference in how you view other pages.

That is how people view pages and groups and why you need to keep all this in mind as you create your own page.

There is a limit to how many pages a Facebook user can ‘like’ which is why your page needs to stand out and really showcase its Purpose. Plan it out and the first step slowly and with purpose, your page will see success if you do.

How to Make a Facebook Fan Page that Works

fan1 How to Make a Facebook Fan Page that Works Here are some helpful tips on how to make a Facebook fan page that does what you need it to do; convert Facebook browsers into subscribers.

The more interactive you can make your fan page, the better it will be. People need to  given a clear reason on why and how your fan page came to be. Especially as more and more marketers will come into your market niche, develop, and make fan pages of their own. This means that you will need your fan page to be special and  really establish an impact with potential customers.

Fan sites should not be used to directly sell to your customer base, until a relationship is well established. So the initial “building blocks” should provide free, quality info to build authority, establishment of a presence in your market, and the opportunity to present the quality of your work.

To start, make sure to includes your Fan page a clear title, that your audience is targeted. Visitors to your fan page want to know exactly why you are in that market.

For example, if you created a fan site dedicated to the weight loss industry, your fan site should target “Weight Loss Tips” or “Fast Action Weight Loss”.

Ensure that your title is compelling and draws interest from these who visit. In the event you discover that your title is not really working at converting visitors into “fans”, you can easily change your target “Likes”.  Don’t be afraid to test different headlines to determine what works best for your chosen market.

Your fan page should also have images or a photo, indicating what your page is all about.

If you’re a recognized leader or authority in your niche, you could upload a photo. I have discovered that has a high quality photo image works best. With the weight loss market as an example again, you could upload a photo, a  “before-and-after” photo from stock photo sites, or you can upload an image you took yourself.

Make sure you choose the image so it generates a positive response from your target audience. It is important that you get this right, because a picture can make a huge difference in your ability to recruit Facebook fans to your new page.

If you’re struggling to care for the image-ideas, visit the popular Stock Image Directories  online and enter your niche keyword. You will quickly find thousands of  potential images.

Fan sites can be as dynamic as you wish.  Include videos and other interactive tools and resources. Videos are a great component in building popular fan sites for good reason. You can use videos to connect with your audience in a  way that traditional print media simply cannot.

You can express emotions, build social tension and provide evidence by video references and feedback from reputable sources in your market, all using the power of video. What’s more, if you’re careful, you can use professional, premade video producers to obtain suitable videos your fans will enjoy.

Videos are also powerful marketing tools in another way; it can go viral very quickly. If you have a video that is entertaining, original and really communicates with your target market, it could spread quickly, as more and more people give it to others they know, as a video they will enjoy. This can be very powerful.

You want your fan page to take account of these important viral elements, so people share your fan page with others in your niche market.  You can create a viral fan page, with high-quality, free giveaway products your target audience will find very useful.

You could also go one step further and create your own packages and products that are only on your fan page including:

  • exclusive interviews with people in authority
  • “Fan Only” conference calls and webinars
  • special discounts and coupons that are only available on your fan page
  • video tutorials and guides
  • ebooks, reports and articles

To access these downloads, community members are often obliged to opt-in to your mailing list, so that not only you are able to make your fan site grow quickly.

Whatever you decide to offer, you will want to ensure that it is clearly targeted to your audience and is something that the majority views as valuable and real.

When you are not sure what to offer on your fan page, spend some time to evaluate the online marketplaces that is selling successfully, and then create a simple version of these products for free.

I’ve successfully used many high-quality writers who have created everything from reports to ebooks I offer for the visitors on my fan pages.

Use these tips to get started with a few fan pages of your own and I will have more for you shortly.
